Want to know how to spend a day in downtown Fernandina Beach in the fall?
Start your day in Fernandina Beach with coffee, of course. AMELIA ISLAND COFEE has some creative latte choices. I like mine in a mug. Especially on a cool fall day. They also have a nice selection of breakfast items, including pastries, avocado toast, and smoked salmon.
I always like to include a walk to the marina if I spend a day in Fernandina Beach.
Who doesn't enjoy some water views, a marina, and a lovely waterfront park? I enjoy checking out which boats are in the marina. It's always fun to see some of the more creative names and find out where they are from.
The train tracks also run parallel to the river. If you are spending the day in Fernandina Beach with your kids, it's the place to go to watch the trains come through.
I kind of like them myself, actually.
I'm not a big shopper, but I like a great boutique or a local shop. I always find something new when spending a day in Fernandina Beach. If you need a cute outfit for the season, check out PEARL or TWISTED SISTERS!. Does the man in your life need something new? The setting itself and the bar in the back is worth a visit to JJ COOPER.
I like spices from THE SPICE AND TEA EXCHANGE, particularly the 'Florida Sunshine.' It's fresh and lemony and delicious on everything from salads to fish.
I always have a stack of books on my nightstand. So, I love an old-fashioned bookstore, and THE BOOK LOFT is one of the best for national titles and Fernandina Beach favorites. You could probably spend the rest of my day in Fernandina Beach reading at the marina, but then you might miss something. So, just find something to take home. I rarely spend a day in Fernandina Beach, and I don't bring home a new book.
Grab a table outside for lunch at TIMOTI'S. I almost always get the Mayport fried shrimp but everything is fresh so you can't really go wrong.
Grab a jacket and take an afternoon cruise with AMELIA RIVER CRUISES AND CHARTERS. They are at the end of Centre Street, right in downtown Fernandina Beach.
If you are spending a day in Fernandina Beach, you want to include a boat cruise. You will learn a little history, see some horses off Cumberland Island, and maybe see a dolphin.
Want some live music? Park yourself at the outdoor side of the bar at THE BOAT HOUSE for a cocktail and a lovely setting. The bands vary and I've enjoyed them all.
End your day in Fernandina Beach with a Mexican dinner at MEZCAL. The setting is lively, and the food is fresh and delicious. Of course, I like any of the seafood entrees.
