Spend A Day on Kiawah and the Surrounding Area
Did you know that you could spend the day in the Kiawah area without staying at the resort?

Before you start your day on Kiawah, stop at The Station in John's Island for a cup of coffee or to grab sandwiches for lunch. It’s also a gas station, car wash, and convenience store, but grab a sandwich and sit outside or take it with you for lunch. Shop at Freshfields - I like Indigo Books because I love bookstores, but there is also a Johnny Was, a Lily Pulitzer, and a plethora of other cool stores.

Your day on Kiawah must include a a trip to the Kiawah Island Golf Resort! Tell them at the gate you want to have a drink at the Lobby Bar.
Let the valet know you are going to the lobby for a drink and they will park your car at no charge. It goes without saying, but make sure you have change to give them a tip when you leave.

My favorite part of a day on Kiawah is a visit to the Sanctuary’s Lobby Bar. Try an Aperol spritz or your cocktail of choice. Sit in the cozy bar or walk outside for views of the ocean. The lobby bar exudes elegance and sophistication. It’s great for a rainy or crisp spring afternoon. They make an excellent Aperol spritz, and we loved the mezcal cocktail served in a pretty glass. You can also ask for your drink in a plastic cup to enjoy the outside view of the beach from your Adirondack chair.

Before you leave, be sure to visit the Wells Gallery for stunning realist art of the Lowcountry. I also like the Beach Shop for cute beach accessories.

After your day on Kiawah, leave the resort and go to Freshfields for dinner. I like a charcuterie board and a wine tasting for dinner at FortyEight Wine Bar and Kitchen. They feature forty-eight wines by the glass every day. Get a card at the desk, and then you can try the various wines from the machines that dispense a one, three, or six-ounce pour. It’s a fun way to try a new wine that might be more expensive than you usually drink, or just one that looks interesting.

Your day on Kiawah must include a stop at the Bohicket Marina, just outside the resort. Take a walk or sit on the patio and enjoy some incredible views. If you time it right, they might even have live music on the lawn.
