bartaco Charleston
I consider myself a bit of a taco expert, so I was happy to discover the new bartaco in downtown Charleston. I've been to other bartacos in Raleigh and Atlanta and could not wait to try our own! The Bartaco Charleston is right on King Street and has a relaxed vibe and a fresh coastal cantina décor. The interior is contemporary, with tall ceilings, skylights, cute rattan lights, and whitewashed brick.

Begin with a 'healthy' margarita
Start your bartaco Charleston dining experience with a house margarita or one with green juice for a healthy twist. It's got 'green juice' in the title, so it's gotta be good for you, right? It's made with spinach, pineapple, and mango juice and is delicious.
The folks at bartaco Charleston didn't tell me it was healthy - I'm just going with that!

Every Mexican restaurant should offer 'free' chips and salsa
I recommend bartaco Charleston's guac + roja + verde + chips. The 'chips' come as whole tortillas. They seem fresher when you break them to eat. Why? I'm not sure, but it's definitely more fun! The salsas are fresh and smoky. I like the verde, but the roja has a kick to it.

A few other recommendations from the bartaco Charleston menu:
- Glazed pork belly taco - Apparently, it has a three-day cooking process at bartaco Charleston. I'm not sure what they do, but whatever it is, it works.
- Duck birria - Shredded duck with Oaxaca and cotija cheese. Served with duck broth for dipping.
- Pistachio Cauliflower taco - Roasted cauliflower and hummus with pistachio chimichurri and pomegranates. Yum!
- Tuna tatako – but I like it in a corn tortilla instead of the lettuce wrap that's on the bartaco Charleston menu because I do like my carbs. Just saying.
- Esquitas – make sure you order the one OFF the cob for sharing
- Kimchi salad is pretty good, but I think I could use more kimchi.

bartaco Charleston Gives Back too!
I also like that bartaco Charleston has partnerships with Open Water and Greenplaces and focuses on being more sustainable. They also give back to the community by partnering with organizations chosen by their local team members.
Many of bartaco's partnerships focus on children and hunger, which is dear to my heart. #givingtaco
