The Archive: A Mount Pleasant Coffee Shop That Feels Like a Bookstore

A coffee shop that feels like a bookstore? And also serves wine and beer? Yes! The Archive is a cozy Mount Pleasant coffee shop and it is the perfect rainy-day spot for a morning cup of hot coffee or tea. Or an afternoon beverage. And they sell books, specializing in ‘dark academia.’

The walls and trim in this Mount Pleasant coffee shop are painted a flat sage green, and the space is filled with bookshelves, so it feels like a home library. The windows on the right are bookended (lol) by bookshelves, creating window seats along the wall. I love a window seat! I think it came from my romanticized childhood books, reading, and movie watching.

In addition to their specialty drinks, the Archives offers a limited menu of coffees and teas, along with a nice selection of milk choices and flavored syrups. I may be the only one who drinks their coffee that way, but I do wish they had nonfat milk, though. I didn’t see any food offerings,

This Mount Pleasant coffee shop also sells a few small gift items, such as t-shirts, stickers and candles.

The Archives offers six different memberships focusing on various genres, including a Thriller Book Club and a Romantasy Book Club. The club membership provides discounts on books and coffees as well as VIP invitations to special events. My favorite options are the Banned Book Book Club or the Book and Bottle Club, which pairs a bottle of wine with a monthly book selection. How fun!

The Archives website also offers the option to purchase their selection of books, which is a nice way to support a local business.
