Spend a Pleasant Afternoon and Mount Pleasant Waterfront Park 😉
The Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park is nestled beneath the Arthur Ravenel Bridge. If you’ve never been, it’s a pleasant (lol) way to spend the afternoon.
The park is about 14 acres and includes beautiful open spaces, palm trees, and views of the water, which makes it one of the best parks ever!

Stop at the War Memorial, where you’ll see a beautiful sculpture surrounded by the names of local war veterans who gave their lives in service to our country, as well as monuments for first responders of the 911 attack.
Go to the River Watch Cafe and Gift Shop. Have a soft-serve ice cream cone or a made-to-order sandwich and an iced tea. Try one of their pimento cheese and bacon paninis, which is a local favorite. They also offer local baked goods. There is also a lovely shop with art, upscale local souvenirs and gifts, and postcards.

Walk down the Mount Pleasant Waterfront Park pier that stretches into the Charleston Harbor, where you can fish or sit in one of the swings and enjoy the views of Charleston.

Visit the Sweetgrass Cultural Arts Pavilion at Mount Pleasant Waterfront Park which honors the Gullah/Geechee tradition of sweetgrass basket weaving. Inside, you’ll see a display that celebrates generations of artisans. It’s a tribute to the generations of women who have carried on this tradition for over 300 years. The newest section of Mount Pleasant Waterfront Park opened in the summer and includes pickleball and basketball courts, a splash pad, a dog park, outdoor fitness stations, walking tracks, and more restrooms and parking.

Why you’ll love it? It feels deliberate yet natural and beautiful. It combines history with modern conveniences, and is a lovely way to slow down and spend an afternoon outside.
