If you want to feel like a Fernandina Beach local, you’ve got to visit The Green Turtle Tavern in the historic district.

Because it IS a favorite of the locals.

The Green Turtle Tavern has Classic Key West Style

The Green Turtle Tavern is a coastal Key West-style bar with painted murals, college football signs, license plates, signs, graffiti, and a Fernandina-style porch. The inside is a classic bar, but the outdoor patio features a nice pergola, twinkly lights, picnic tables, a stage for live music, and sometimes cornhole games. It feels like a dive bar in the keys, in a good way. You'll be hanging out alongside boat captains, tycoons, hippies and authors.

A Relaxing vibe in an outdoor setting.

The Green Turtle Tavern makes handcrafted cocktails, a dynamite mojito, and a frozen strawberry margarita, which is popular with the tourists too.

A local arts and crafts show was taking place the last time we visited, and they often host popups and special events. The Green Turtle Tavern has live bands every weekend, so be sure to check out the schedule online. The music ranges from bluegrass, to country, to Southern rock – and many are local or almost local.
