Amelia Island Beach Access Reviews

Hello beach lover! Do you enjoy having your toes in the sand and the sunshine on your face? If you are like me, you feel like the salt water heals your soul, calms your body, and clears your head.

Want to know where to go? Here are my beach access reviews of Amelia Island:

Amelia Island Beach Access 1

Amelia Beach Access 1

Amelia Island Beach Access 1 is not my favorite. There was standing water in the parking lot due to a little summer rain shower. There wasn’t much parking before half of it was covered with a puddle. However, if you can find a place to park, it’s a short walk to the beach. The path splits into two separate directions, one with a small hill and the other going around it. It’s rather pretty, actually.

Beach Access 1 is next to a busy public beach with a lifeguard stand. If you like the action, it might be the place for you, but it was too busy for us. A bonus is that it appears to be dog-friendly!
The beach is wide and beautiful, but at this time, they are renourishing the beach here, so there is a big pipe to walk over. It’s not too inconvenient, just not pretty. But necessary.

Amelia Island Beach Access 6

There is not much parking near Amelia Island Beach Access 6, as the only spots are along a side street on the other side of Fletcher. However, you can take a short walk to Amelia Island Beach Access 6 once you cross the street. There isn't a boardwalk but a nice path as you go down a hill to get to the beach. The beach is nice and wide, and has lots of waves, but it might be a little rough. It appears to be a good fishing spot, though!

North Beach Park Access 12

North Beach Park Access 12, located on Amelia Island, is lovely and might be one of my favorites.
It has limited parking, but no less than other beach accesses in the area. We were able to easily find a parking spot on a weekday in the summer.

The path to the beach is not too long, and a section of it is covered in pretty white sand. The boardwalk section of the walk at North Beach Park Access 12 has been redone and features two covered areas with picnic tables, perfect for escaping the heat on the beach for a summer picnic lunch. The beach itself has lovely white sand and is vast and beautiful. There is also a lifeguard stand located there, which is a nice addition.

Amelia Island Beach Access 16 sign parking

Amelia Island Beach Access 16

There is no parking at Beach Access 16. The sign directs you to park across Fletcher Avenue, which isn’t great because there is no crosswalk. The parking lot is also a long walk back from the beach once you cross the road.

It does have a wheelchair-accessible mat, the path is wide, and the boardwalk is nice and smooth. However, once you reach the end of the path, it’s a little hard to walk because of the beach renourishment. It’s also a steep hill to get down to the ocean, so I’m not sure I’d call it wheelchair accessible.

However, Beach Access 16 opens up to a wide beach, which was practically empty when we arrived, likely due to the lack of parking.

Beach Access Amelia Island

Amelia Island Beach Access 25

Amelia Island Beach Access 25 has an older, more rustic boardwalk and a longer walk to the beach. As you head to the beach, you climb up and back down on the boardwalk. However, the good thing is that there are no stairs.

Once you arrive at Amelia Island Beach Access 25, it has a wide beach, but it’s a little far from the water. It’s okay, but there are plenty of other choices to access the beach on Amelia Island.

Amelia Island Beach Access 40

Looking for a beach access that is easy to get to? Amelia Island Beach Access 40 is located right off Fletcher Avenue. There is a tiny parking lot, but if you can find a place to park, it has a new boardwalk and a big, broad beach. There is a little drop-off in the sand as you make your way to the water, but otherwise, a decent place to access the ocean.

South End Beach Access Dune Walk 110

The South End Beach Access is also called Dune Walk 110. This beach access feels like a hidden secret because its access is shaded and off the beaten path. It’s on the far south end of the island and a little different than most of the beach accesses on Amelia Island. It has a paved parking lot, which is not large but has a few more spaces than most on the island.

There is a less-than-scenic (or maybe downright ugly) walk on the parking lot end. It has a chain-link fence next to it, which isn’t exactly pretty. It does have a wide path, but it’s a long way to the beach. There are lots of steps to get to the beach from this access, so if that’s an issue, you might want to skip this beach access.

However, once you get to the top of the boardwalk, it’s beautiful. The beach is spacious and wide and not too crowded.
